Technology Has Changed Human Lives

“The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do.” – B. F. Skinner, an American psychologist, author, inventor and social philosopher. The way technology has impacted our lives is evident in every walk of life. Human mind has achieved everything by the power of imagination. Man has ushered in an age dominated by revolutionary technological developments.

Albert Einstein once quoted, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” From the day of landing on moon to a trip to Mars, from the introduction of Microsoft Windows to the inception of 3G and 4G technologies, from tape-recorders to Apple iPods, from landline phones to latest smart phones, from the origin of World Wide Web to Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 technologies, from Internet Search Engines to addictive social networking websites, from blogging to internet shopping, computer technological developments have impacted our lives in a way that it is almost impossible to imagine this world, without their presence!

Depending on the way of usage, is technology beneficial or harmful to society? We need to analyze it keeping in view how has technological developments shaped our lives over the decades. It is the question where you need to look at both aspects of development in technology. While it has made our lives amazingly simpler and easier with anything at just a mouse click away, it has created several negative health impacts, psychological problems and stress in daily life.

Obviously, technological advancement during 1970 has led to the betterment for people in this century; it has also created innumerable problems mostly arising out of the misuse of technology. There are three main sectors that are largely affected by this technology. Education, Business and Communication. Internet technology has changed our lives in many ways.

The global world trade and business have become faster, easier and more reliable in the last 50 years. People now prefer to buy railway/bus tickets, book flights sitting in the comfort of their homes. The bill payments and accounts are maintained and managed by online facilities. All the banks and financial institutions have introduced online system. ATM machine is a wonderful addition. Online advertising is proving to be the greatest growing business thanks to the invention of computers, that we get countless facilities which yesteryear people never even imagined to get!

Computers are phenomenal in this era. Previously they were an item of luxury, but nowadays it is a necessity in every discipline, for everyone. Computers of different models and vast number of varieties are available to meet the requirements of businessmen, young professionals, students, educators, homes and corporate world. Cheap computers and refurbished laptops are very useful for people who cannot afford to buy new branded computer desktop. Refurbished computers come in excellent condition and smooth functioning as the parts are replaced thus giving more extra space in your hard disk.

Education is computer-dominated in this era. Computer internet education has become an integral part of college education across the globe. Information and Technology are integrated in society. According to B. F. Skinner, “It is the human mind that has developed these technologies, so it depends on us, how we use it, to our peril or to our advantage.”
